Music Production.

Invested in and tailored to your vision.

We understand that your music is an incredibly precious and vulnerable creation, so we’re here to understand the depths of your project in order to deliver a result that resonates with you.

This service of production is a collaboration, however, it is your music and we’re not here to take control in any way. Our wish is to bring out the essence of your music and shape it to its best possible form. Please have a look at our portfolio and see the projects that the Sonic Nursery team has worked as a producer on.

Whether you’re working on a rock ‘n’ roll project, an Afrobeats vision, an acoustic serenade or even something avant-garde, we are equipped with the experience and passion to produce your music. The role of a producer in this case is an extension of an existing project, and typically relevant to artists who intend to record, mix and master with Sonic Nursery.

FAQs

A music producer oversees the creative and technical aspects of a song or album, guiding the artist through arrangement, recording, mixing, and overall sound design to bring their vision to life. The term’s meaning has changed somewhat from its original, but when we talk about production, we are referring to the more historical role of a music or record producer.

If you want professional and experienced input on songwriting, arrangement, recording, and sound quality, a producer can help elevate your music to industry standards.

We work across all genres, from rock, hip-hop and Afrobeats to electronic, pop, jazz, and beyond, tailoring our production approach to your unique sound. Our Cape Town-based studio has been home to many different styles of music, and we’ve worked as producers on a variety of different projects.

Absolutely! Whether you have a melody, lyrics, or just a concept, we can help develop it into a fully produced track.

A producer focuses on the creative direction, arrangement, and overall sound of a project, while an audio engineer handles the technical aspects of recording, mixing, and mastering.

Yes! We offer remote production services, including virtual collaboration, file sharing, and real-time feedback sessions. Our studio is based in Cape Town, but we have the facilities to assist with production anywhere in the world.

We can work with your musicians or provide access to professional session players to enhance your track with great expertise and experience.

Timelines vary based on the project’s complexity, but a single track typically takes a few days to a few weeks, from pre-production to the final master. Production is not a process we believe should be rushed, but if turnaround times are tight, that is not a problem.

We do not typically charge for this specific service, but rather propose a mechanical royalty deal. The role of a producer is however an extension of an existing project/booking (i.e. ordinary rates for recording, mixing and mastering still apply).

Understanding mechanical royalties.

If you’d prefer to pay a set fee for production and keep all your royalties, then this can be quoted depending on our involvement in the project.
